Literacy is Inclusive

This campaign promotes inclusive literacy by recognizing Indigenous languages in Canada as equal forms of literacy. Through my research, I found that the definition of “literacy” has been narrowed to English in many countries due to colonial history. Thus, this campaign targets English speakers in Canada who may be unaware of the dominance of colonial languages and encourages them to understand that literacy is inclusive.
